Best Time to Drink Coffee for Maximizing Exercise Performance

Are there times when coffee is the best time to drink it? This subject has been discussed and argued for many years by many experts in the health field. One thing that they all seem to agree on though is that there is really no best time to drink coffee. It really depends on many factors.

  • Most people love a nice warm cup or two at work a.m. But it is generally thought that drinking coffee too early in the morning decreases its energy-giving properties, because your adrenaline hormone cortisol is at its peak level in that time. This can be dangerous to some people, especially those who are new to the coffee habit. Others may like to have it at certain times, such as in the afternoon or in the evening. No matter what someone else’s schedule is, however, it seems that the best time to drink it is still anytime that an average person is awake. It is not a good idea to start drinking coffee at an inappropriate time.
  • One way to determine the best time to drink it is to look at the effect that caffeine will have on someone who is sleeping. If someone is taking a big nap in the afternoon, they may not feel the same level of alertness that they would if they had drunk a cup of coffee at the first hour of sleep. Another way to look at this is that coffee is a stimulant. A small amount will be necessary for alertness, but too much can cause fatigue and be harmful in the first few hours of waking up.
  • An average cup of coffee contains between four and ten milligrams of caffeine, depending on how strong the brew is. That amount of caffeine is not something that a person should have every morning. Two to five cups of coffee are enough to do damage. That amount of caffeine will keep someone up all night and could cause a person to toss and turn or even fall asleep. Even if someone consumes a smaller amount, they can still become fatigued after having it several times in a row.
  • In order to maximize the effects of coffee, it is best to consume it in the afternoon or later during the night. When people wake up in the morning, they should replace their coffee with a sugar-free alternative or a decaffeinated variety. It is also best to replace the beverage with water. Having a small glass of water with a slice of fruit in it will suffice, as long as the water has not been consumed all through the night. This is a good way to maximize the effects of coffee, since it allows for maximum consumption while minimizing the effects.
  • When finding out when it is the best time to drink coffee, it is important to keep in mind the effects of caffeine. Too much caffeine can be harmful, but drinking too little is just as bad. For this reason, one should always make sure to consume half a cup before getting started. This will allow a person to gradually increase the amount of coffee as they get accustomed to it. People who are new to coffee will need to consume a lesser amount until they are used to the effects and enjoy it. Once a person knows when to drink it, they can start increasing the amount until it is exactly the right amount.
  • Some individuals may question the timing of coffee during exercise. However, research shows that the best time to drink coffee is during an intense workout. The reason is because coffee has stimulants in it that promote wakefulness and promote overall body awareness. If a person wakes up from doing a rigorous workout, consuming coffee immediately prior to starting their next set of exercises can help them stay awake and alert. This will also help them achieve more in less time, since the body will be more alert and tired.

There are many ways to make coffee, but all of them have negative sides. One should drink their coffee at a specific time to avoid the negative effects and maximize benefits. Drinking coffee during the recommended time will help them avoid negative effects and maximize their exercise performance. This is because the body will not have to work as hard to digest the caffeine that comes with the beverage, allowing it to perform better.
